At What Age Should My Child Start Music Lessons?

Parents in Oregon City and the surrounding areas, you may find yourself surprised by how early your child can benefit from professional music lessons. Music lessons, of course, will differ based on the instrument. Generally speaking, however, children can begin music lessons as early as age 3 or age 5.

Suzuki Method Lessons Can Begin At Age 3

The Suzuki Method is an approach that the instructors at Oregon City Music Academy use to teach violin, viola, and cello. This method emphasizes the ability of any child to develop musical ability under professional training. We begin violin, viola, and cello lessons for children as young as age 3.

Other Types Of Music Lessons

For the other types of instruments we teach, our instructors depend on different types of lessons. For instruments other than the violin, viola, and cello, instruction can begin as early as age 5.
